Volunteers Needed!

We need volunteers to help us inspire the next generation of engineers.  Find something you like below and make your ASCE membership more than just a monthly luncheon.  To sign up, or for more information, follow the hyperlink or the QR code.

  • Harrington Elementary STEM night (1/17/19)
    • This is a local STEM night in Plano encouraging kids to think about careers in the STEM fields and to demonstrate that science and math can be fun.
    • ASCE Volunteers will run the penny bridge activity where kids see how many pennies they can suspend across an 8" gap using only 1 sheet of paper and 5 paper clips.
  • Future City Competition (1/26/19)
    • This is a national event hosted by schools across the country where kids design the city of the future.
    • ASCE volunteers can participate in any way that they want. See the flyer to the right. If you do participate, please fill out the contact information below so that we can meet up as a group on competition day.
  • DISD STEM Expo (2/2/19)
    • Elementary and Middle School students build bridges out of popsicle sticks and bring them here to test their final design to failure.
    • ASCE volunteers will interview the teams before load testing, perform the load testing, and interview the teams after load testing.
  • E-Week at the Perot Museum (2/19/19 - 2/21/19)
    • This is a national event hosted by schools and museums where kids from various schools explore the museum and do activities related to engineering.
    • ASCE Volunteers will run the penny bridge activity where kids see how many pennies they can suspend across an 8" gap using only 1 sheet of paper and 5 paper clips.
