December 2025 President's Message
For many of us, the tryptophan from our Thanksgiving turkeys has finally subsided. We go from November with a heartfelt focus on what we are grateful for; and roll right into December where we reflect on caring for others and the importance of being with those closest to us. Volunteerism can be contagious in these wonderful months, and as President of ASCE Dallas I am certainly proud of the time and effort that the leaders of our branch put in each and every month to accomplish one successful task after another. We went with an Aviation theme this month on Monday December 8th, as you will want to arrive to our venue for the 11 AM Technical Session presented by Michael H. Lloyd, AIA, LEED AP; Principal of PGAL presenting “DFW TERMINAL F: MODULAR DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION”. Then at 12 PM, for our lunch Keynote, Thomas Lyon, PE, CCM; Senior Vice President (Airport Development) for Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport will present the exciting topic “DFW IS GOING MONUMENTAL: AN OVERVIEW OF CONSTRUCTION & CAPITAL INVESTMENTS AT DALLAS FORT WORTH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT”. One of the economic engines of our area, there is no shortage of ongoing work and upcoming opportunities to serve this airport. I thought about keeping it a surprise, but when you come and sit for the keynote lunch you will notice no dessert on your table. The reason is that when we adjourn around 1 PM after the main meeting we will head back into the lobby area for an array of delicious desserts and coffee to help celebrate the holiday – an extra networking component as is tradition after our December meetings! We are also seeking nominations for our 2026 Engineer of the Year (EOY) and Young Engineer of the Year (YEOY). If you would like to nominate someone that has made outstanding contributions to the civil engineering profession, public welfare and humankind, please visit our website (or use the hyperlinks provided) and use the nomination forms available. The due date (Friday, 12/12/25) is quickly approaching, so please nominate someone worthy of recognition today! In the spirit of giving back our Branch’s Younger Members are organizing a community service event on Saturday December 13th. Come join us (its for the “young at heart too, no age limits) as we get our hands dirty and do some farm work, tending to crops, etc. Learn more and register per the link below: Please do not hesitate to contact me with your ideas, questions, and feedback. We are always looking for more volunteers, always looking for interesting topics and speakers, and I view my position as one of service to providing advocacy for our branch region and the civil engineering industry. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays… see you all in the New Year! Kind regards,
Hello and Hope You Are Enjoying the Holiday Season!
