Richard Pierce, P.E.

Richard Clayton Pierce passed away December 29, 2012 at the age of 90. Dick was born September 15, 1922 in Tyler, TX. He was a member of ASCE and Rotary International.

Dick served in the U.S. Coast Guard on a destroyer escort in the European Theater of Operations, serving as a torpedo mate and gunners mate. With the assistance of the GI Bill, he became a proud Texas Aggie, Class of 1951, with a degree in civil engineering. During his professional career, he worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Lockwood, Andrews and Newnam, Inc. He was a partner in Cook, Fowler, and Grafe Consulting Engineers, owner of Richard Pierce Associates, and a co-owner of Pierce-Lunsford Associates. 

Dick and Sue, his wife of 64 years, moved to the Irving in 1958 and to the Kessler Park area of Dallas in 1962 where he resided until his death.  Dick was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers, Edward and Harold Pierce. He is survived by his 3 children; daughter, Patricia Pierce Waas; son, Mark and wife Julia and son, Guy and wife June; 7 grandchildren; and brother, Bill. Dick and his family celebrated his 90th birthday with friends, neighbors & work associates in September, 2012. Dick will be interred at the D/FW National Cemetery with a memorial gathering to be held in March.
