Speaker: Mr. Scott Mackiewicz, PhD, P.E., D.GE
Topic: Designing Efficient Deep Foundations - A Geotechnical Perspective

Mr. Scott M. Mackiewicz, PhD, P.E., D.GE is a Senior Technical Practice Leader in Foundation Engineering for Kleinfelder. His 20 years of professional experience includes coordination, supervision, and performance of subsurface exploration programs as well as construction observation, preparation of reports and consultation on a variety of projects relating to geotechnical and materials engineering throughout the United States.

He maintains experience in traditional subsurface exploration methods and the use of in situ testing equipment to characterize soils that are difficult or impossible to sample. His engineering responsibilities have included evaluation of shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, ground improvement, and surcharge/wick drain programs.  Dr. Mackiewicz is experienced in conducting instrumented static/dynamic pile and drilled shaft testing and has used full scale load testing procedures to refine the deep foundation design or confirm estimated capacities on several bridge projects
