Education Chair Update

Engineers Week at the Perot Museum

ASCE will volunteer at the new Perot Museum of Nature and Science downtown on Friday, February 22 from 10 AM – 2 PM.  We will have a small activity to demonstrate Civil Engineering to museum patrons in celebration of Engineers Week.  If you would like to help (even if it is only for an hour!) please email Matt Ludwig, ASCE Education Chair.  

MathCounts

Please consider volunteering at one of the two MathCounts events in the Dallas area:

• Saturday Feb. 9th at SMU (contact Cynthia Fields)
• Saturday Feb. 16th at UT-Dallas (contact Angela Matthews)

Both competitions will be held from 7:30 am to early afternoon.  Volunteers are needed as graders and proctors of the various exam the students will be taking.

Civil Engineering Club at W. Wilson High School

The Dallas ASCE Branch has started a Civil Engineering Club this spring at Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas.  This national ASCE program, which is in its pilot year, will introduce high school students to Civil Engineering through a combination of speakers, projects, and field trips.  The Club will meet about twice a month throughout the spring semester after school.  We are looking for help!  We need a variety of speakers and field trips to active construction projects.  Please contact Matt Ludwig, ASCE Education Chair, if you or your organization can offer any help!
