Younger Members Fall 2015 Update

Our Younger Members have been busy these past few months! Below are the recaps of their exciting volunteer activities.

Recap of Dallas YM's October Event – Dallas CF Climb

On October 24, 2015 the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation hosted the 2015 CF Climb at Bank of America Plaza.  81 Event participants climbed 1525 steps to reach the 70th floor of the building and $18,228 was raised to help support life-saving research and care for individuals with cystic fibrosis.  For the fun-filled morning, ASCE YMF volunteered at the event to help the climbers register and get ready for the race, as well as cheer on and support the climbers at the Start and Finish lines!

Recap of Dallas YM’s November Event – Redeem the Stream

On November 14th 56 volunteers came out bright and early to clean up the Trinity River! Volunteers met at the CP&Y Dallas Office, and were shuttled to and from the cleanup site, near Stemmons and Harry Hines. After several hours of trash abatement, volunteers were shuttled back to CP&Y for a delicious taco salad luncheon in appreciation for their hard work and dedication. While cleaning up, volunteers documented the most interesting trash they found (see Redeem the Stream on FB for interesting trash pics).

In partnership with Groundwork Dallas, the WEAT Redeem the Stream event was a total success! Together, we were able to clean up 3,000 lbs. of trash and 380 lbs. of recyclables out of the Elm Fork Green Belt of the Trinity River! The positive environmental impact our cleanup had on the Trinity River is amazing, and should be shared and celebrated. Super big thank you to everyone who contributed to make this happen!
