Volunteers needed ASAP for Outreach Opportunity |
Can you Help? - Outreach Opportunity to promote Engineering by teaching Children about Water Dear Fellow Engineers: There is a community event coming up on Saturday, July 11th at the Museum of Nature and Science. The event is called Discover Water. The purpose of Discover Water is to teach children about the various properties and uses of water, as well as teach them how to conserve and protect this resource and pursue careers in water related fields. The event runs from 10AM - 5PM on Saturday, July 11, and consists of 8-10 activity/demonstration areas designed to teach different aspects of the day's theme. They need a few engineers specializing in Water Resources (or working in this area) to teach the children about water, wastewater, flood control, storm water, etc. If you are interested in leading the effort or participating, could you please let Sophia know ASAP so she can get you in touch with the TSPE Outreach Chair. Sophia can also provide you with ideas on what to present. Would someone please step up to the plate with a few fellow engineers so that we can make a difference and have a presence at this opportunity? P.S. If you have school age children you can take them with you, so they can benefit from this event. You can take smaller children too, but we recommend you bring a spouse or care giver to take care of them, so you can participate in the program.
